The National Reye’s Syndrome Foundation (NRSF) has made great strides in saving children’s lives by spreading knowledge about Reye’s Syndrome, its prevention, and raising money for further research and assistance from the FDA.
The NRSF depends wholly on voluntary contributions for support of all programs. Their newest fundraiser was a Cell Phone Recycling project, in which they needed an envelope for cell phone donations to be sent.
“The EnvyPak envelope brought a lot of ‘class’ and a sense that we, as a Foundation, cared about the project,” remarked Cathy Zraik, Adminstrative Assistant, NRSF.
“The Univenture team was absolutely great to work with. Their care and concern about making the project fit our needs; their creativity in design, and the entire process were such a pleasure.”
The envelope was a 9″ x 6″ printed mailer, which displayed detailed steps on how to recycle a phone, as well as the NRSF slogan and contact information. On the back of the envelope they were gracious enough to include an ad promoting the unique packaging options available with Univenture.
“The state of the economy has led us to seek creative forms of fundraising and we are excited about the cell phone recycling project,” said Zraik. “Not only does this project keep cell phones out of landfills, it puts the phones back into the hands of people who need them most; battered women and at-risk children.”
“The dollars generated from this fundraiser will pay for new Novel H1N1 Flu brochures and Public Service Announcements, of which there is now the most urgent need. We are so pleased with how this all turned out,” remarked Zraik.
The envelopes were passed out to convention goers at the 91st Annual American Legion Convention in Louisville in August of 2009. “Most Legion Members took handfuls of the envelopes back to share with other Unit Members and with family and friends. Everyone commented on the appeal and the uniqueness of the envelopes,” said Zraik.
The National Reye’s Syndrome Foundation was founded in Bryan, Ohio, 35 years ago, in 1974 by John and Terri Freudenberger after they lost their 5-year-old daughter to Reye’s Syndrome. Since that time, the foundation has made tremendous strides in saving children’s lives, being responsible for most of the Reye’s Syndrome research in the United States, and the FDA push to have all aspirin products labeled with the Reye’s Syndrome warning.
